Chicken Shawarma Recipe:

Chicken Shawarma:

Chicken Shawarma is a middle eastern dish loved widely around the globe. It has its own unique flavors and processing. You might have had shawarma from hundreds of places, each representing their own tastes and uniqueness. The ones made in the middle eastern countries are the most authentic ones, but in Pakistan we tend to play with flavors quite much, so here's my version of making a Chicken Shawarma.

Ingredients:

Marination for the chicken:

  • Chicken cut into thin long strips (0.5 kg).
  • 2 tbsp yogurt.
  • 1 tsp white pepper.
  • 3/4 tsp salt.
  • 1 lemon squeezed.
  • 1 tsp cumin powder.
  • 1 tsp paprika powder.
  • 1 tsp coriander powder.
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli flakes(you may adjust spice level according your choice).
  • 1.5 tsp finely chopped garlic.
  • 2 tbsp oil.

Ingredients required for Shawarma assembling:

  • 5 Pita breads of any local brand.
  • Carrots 1 cup, cut into fine slices.
  • Onions finely sliced, 1 cup.
  • Garlic mayo dip (already uploaded the recipe on my blog will be sharing link in the end).
  • Pickled jalapenos/cucumbers/carrots/olives.

Method:

  1. Marinate the chicken with the ingredients mentioned above, and let it stay for about an hour.
  2. Next in a frying pan add 3 tbsp oil and cook the chicken until tender, soft and when its colour changes to golden brown. It takes about 15 minuters.
  3. Meanwhile heat the pita breads on a non stick pan on low flame with a small amount of oil.
  4. Arrange the sliced carrots and pickled jalapenos in separate bowls (whichever pickled vegetable you have, you may use it).
  5. Now first take on pita bread, now with help of a spoon spread 1 tbsp of garlic mayo onto the bread, then add in chicken strips, then add in the carrots and pickle. (chicken, pickle and carrots required according to your choice).
  6. Lastly add in 1.5 tbsp garlic mayo again and wrap the shawarma in butter paper/aluminium foil.
  7. And shawarma wraps are done, serve with fries and any sauce you like.

  1. Ahaa..! Finally...I am gona try this for sure but it will take two to three weeks, for me to understand and gather things (for mayo and shawarma), and at the end make a sahawarma. As it is one of my most favorites, I will try to make it somehow, irrespective of the fact that I don't even know how to hold a knife properly.
It seems like-one way or the other-I have to make an account on Instagram, to go through the step by step pictures of your recipes. This will further help me in analysing what I will be doing with my version of your recipes😀.
In the end, thank you for considering my request; my first demand (which was not first but last in the queue, however, most important of all) has been met, few are remaining to be met and many more yet to come, given that you don't get bored by my demands-asking for more and more- but pardon me as I am a gourmand😊.
